HealthyU Clinics Signs Agreement to Acquire Midwestern University Comprehensive Care Clinic in Arizona

HealthyU Clinics, a leading provider of integrated primary and specialty care services with locations in California and Arizona, has a definitive agreement to acquire Midwestern University Comprehensive Care Clinic located in Phoenix. The clinic, which along with providing care to patients in the community also serves as a Family Medicine Residency training facility in partnership with Abrazo Health, will continue providing care to patients and training residents at the current location at 2000 W. Bethany Home Road in Phoenix. The clinic will operate under the name HealthyU Family Medicine Residency Clinic.

“At Midwestern University, we take great pride in the role our University Clinics have played in serving the community and providing hands-on medical education,” said Dr. Kaila Dougherty, Vice President of Clinic Operations at Midwestern University. “We are confident that HealthyU Clinics is well-positioned to carry forward this mission. We are committed to working together for a smooth transition for our patients and to preserve an environment for resident and medical student training.”

The new HealthyU Family Medicine Residency Clinic is committed to serving every aspect of your family’s health. The acquisition will broaden access to healthcare services and strengthen continuity of care in the community. Patients will have the same access to doctors, residents and staff. The purchase agreement is set to close in Q4, and the name change will take place in November or early December.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the providers and staff at the clinic into the HealthyU Clinics family,” said Dr. Lauren Havard, Associate Chief Medical Officer of HealthyU. “By coming together, we can provide even better care for our patients, create new opportunities for learning and growth, and continue building trust within the communities we serve.”

In addition to expanding HealthyU’s footprint in Arizona, this acquisition will also allow them to provide residents with career opportunities within HealthyU while supporting medical education focused on value-based care. The transition will be seamless for patients; care plans will be securely transferred in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and state privacy laws. All current insurance plans will be maintained, as well as adding other plans to expand access to care.

“We’re excited about this acquisition because it’s a strategic step toward building a robust physician pipeline in family medicine,” said Varesh Chaurasia, CEO of HealthyU. “In addition to expanding our footprint in Arizona, it will also allow us to provide residents with career opportunities within HealthyU while supporting medical education focused on value-based-care. We are thankful to Midwestern University and Abrazo Health for choosing HealthyU as a strategic partner and look forward to a successful transition.”
