Karen is board certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and as a Cardiac Rhythm Device Specialist. A lifelong New England resident, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts, and her Master of Science in Worcester, Massachusetts.
She began her career as a bedside nurse on a cardiac/medical unit before moving into the Cardiac ICU at UMass Memorial Medical Center, where she spent 13 years caring for critically ill patients. After completing her advanced degree, she specialized in cardiac device therapy, including pacemakers and defibrillators. Karen later pioneered the nurse practitioner program in the UMass ICUs, collaborating with residents and fellows to manage complex cardiac cases.
With more than 40 years of experience in cardiovascular disease management, Karen brings extensive expertise to her practice. Since transitioning from acute care to outpatient services, she has focused on building long-term, trusting relationships with her patients—educating them about their conditions and guiding them through evidence-based therapies to prevent disease progression.
From the provider:
“The best tool we can provide patients is knowledge. Through education and preventive practices, disease is ultimately best controlled and managed.”
